Cade Hunter started Hunters Lodge in 2023 with a vision to provide a state of art first class facility to educate, break in, Pre train and spell thoroughbreds in Australia. This is a family owned and operated business with Cade and his mother Gail providing crucial insight and expertise from the thoroughbred industry and the equestrian world, we apply the same high standards and meticulous attention to detail to every racehorse entrusted to our care. 

From a young age Cade had a passion for the thoroughbred racing industry and took his opportunity for employment at the world class Godolphin operation. He did a season in the stallion barn working with the likes of Lonhro, Exceed And Excel and Harry Angel which gave him the skills of handling stallions. While at Godolphin he did seasons in the breaking barn where he had the opportunity to be mentored by the best breakers in the country. It wasn’t long before Cade’s talent was recognised and he started at the coveted Vantage Hill with Blair and Nikki Richardson. This allowed him to further develop his horsemanship knowledge, and he assisted with the education of thoroughbreds such as Giga Kick, Don Corleone, Militarize, King’s Gambit, In The Congo, Captivant, Profiteer and many more high profiled stakes and group race winning horses. 

The Hunter family has an extensive history in the Equestrian industry with Cade’s mother Gail (Powell) Hunter. She was an Australian Showjumping Champion and won the Australian Senior Titles in 1998 which pushed her onto Australia’s Olympic Squads. She had two son’s, Jake and Cade who have made their own impact into the Showjumping discipline following in Gail’s footsteps. Jake Hunter is now based in Europe and competed in the Youth Olympics and Nation’s Cup for Australia. Cade Hunter also competed in showjumping at a young age winning an Australian Junior Grand Prix, being leading boy rider 3 times at the Royal Easter Show and competing up to Grand Prix level.
